The Helm of Awe (Aegishjalmur)
The Helm of Awe, or Aegishjalmur, is one of the best-known symbols associated with Icelandic and Norse folk magic, traditionally linked to protection and the projection of strength — a fitting choice for a shield rather than almost any other kind of decor. Its eight radiating arms are carved to fill the shield's circular face, echoing the symbol's own symmetrical design.
